Speed Festival

The Navy Base had its annual Speed Festival last weekend so we headed over early on Saturday morning before it got too hot and the crowds were too big.

Leading up to the entrance was the best part - lots of trucks and planes on display for the kids to see/sit in.  They were in heaven!!!

Who the heck is driving this plane?!?

They had these remote control devices that out on display which were fascinating.  They have cameras attached on them and use them for investigating suspicious packages/going into unknown places first.  Both kiddos had a chance to "drive them"

After all of the cars, trucks and planes, this was probably their most memorable part of the day - the bounce houses :)

Sydney's First Day of Preschool

We blinked and all of a sudden, Sydney is a 4 year old starting preschool!  When we moved to Coronado, we weren't sure if there would be any spots in the preschools since registration happens in early March, but I guess it was meant to be.  I had 3 preschools that were highly recommended to me and one of them had a spot for Sydney!  We lucked out as it is the closest one to our house so we can walk/bike to/from!

We went on a tour of the school and met the director in early July and I immediately fell in love with the school.  The woman who runs the school reminded me of my mom teaching and she made Sydney feel SO comfortable.  Both of Sydney's teachers had their own kids go through the preschool and now they are giving back and teaching other kids there!

The week before school started Sydney said that she didn't want to go and she just wanted to stay home with me.  I told her she had to try it for the month of September and once we got to October, we could talk about it if she didn't like going.  I was nervous there would be tears at every drop off but thankfully, she woke up on the first day at 6 a.m., got dressed all by herself, put her backpack on and came into our room and said she was ready for school!  I then had to keep her busy for the next 3 hours since school doesn't start until 9!

Love this girl!

Silly one

She walked right in, gave me a hug and started playing!  Thankfully, Cole and I had our first MOPS meeting we had to get to so we were all busy that first day and time flew by!  We picked her up and she enjoyed it so I would call that a success!

More pics from August

I was going through my phone pics and realized there were quite a few on there from August that I forgot to include in the last post.
We went to the water park downtown when we were having a crazy week of hot temps.  They have a playground right next to the water features.  This crazy monkey girl climbed straight to the top!

Cole was fascinated by the baseball player!

Where are her clothes?!?
Lisa went up to northern CA to watch run in a marathon for the weekend (and he ended up qualifying for Boston!!).  My parents watched Ella and Joseph for the weekend and on Sunday they came down and went to the beach with us.  I sent this picture to Lisa after Ella tore off her bathing suit :)

Bath time!

Lisa's friend Katie lives in San Diego and she has an older daughter.  They got together one afternoon and Katie passed down some dress up clothes down to Ella.  The girls had fun twirling and dancing around :)

More zoo fun (we go here often now since it's about 10 minutes from our house) and the kids LOVE it

They didn't seem to care much about the polar bear RIGHT. BEHIND. THEM!  They were more interested in hugging and having a snack.

Cole having fun shopping with momma

Taylor Swift was performing at the baseball stadium (right across the bay from us) so I walked down to the ferry landing to see if I could hear her.  I could not, but, I did see a spectacular fireworks show!

This girl told me she did not want to nap but I found her like this one afternoon...

Sweet cousins

More zoo fun with the Ducotes

Our sweet little girl is growing up too fast!  We signed her up for preschool, 3 times a week.  This is her before she went to meet her teachers!

And one silly face!

Fun with the cousins at Nani and Poppa's pool!

And, now I think we are done with August pictures :)
