4th of July

We kicked off the 4th of July celebration a day early on July 3rd by going to concert in the park with Nani, Poppa, the Ducotes and Brian & Hollie.  There was a special double header, featuring two bands this afternoon.  Originally, our plan was to stay for the first one (Marine Corps Band) and then head back to our house for dinner but after seeing how much fun everyone was having running around, dancing and enjoying the beautiful weather, the guys volunteered to head back to the house to grill and then bring the food to us.  It worked out perfectly!

Nani and Poppa spent the night and we were all up ealry on the 4th.  I headed down to the ferry landing to run in the 12k race (7.4 miles for July 4th) and everyone came to cheer me on.

Almost at the finish and Sydney wanted to run in with me!

Sydney has a lot more energy than I do at this point...

Cole caught up with us, too.

My running buddies :)

My goal was under 1 hour and I was pleased to beat it by over 2 minutes - which was 3+ minutes better than 2015!  I'll take it.

After a quick shower and breakfast, we walked down to check out the parade:
Lots of horses

The parade crew.  We were so glad Ashleigh joined us for the morning!

Star wars!

The kiddos did great in the warm sun for 1.5 hours.  They were entertained by the parade and then the best part, we all took naps after!!  We enjoyed the rest of the day and ended it by watching fireworks on the bay. What a great day.

Hiking and ferry adventures

Last Monday we met up with the Ducotes and some friends to hike Mission Trails
6 moms.  13 kids.

Cole and Joseph surfing on the rock before hiking

Joseph had his shirt on backwards, so naturally, Cole needed his turned around too.  They walked holding hands for much of the hike.

Wednesday of last week we caught the last commuter ferry (free!) at 8:30 a.m. from Coronado to downtown San Diego.  The kids rode their bikes to/from the ferry and then we headed to the downtown water park0 to meet up with friends.  Both kiddos said they had a "fun day" when we got home that afternoon!

Ice cream sandwiches for dessert!

There is a free shuttle bus that goes around Coronado for the summer.  One morning we didnt have any plans so we hopped on the bus and rode it around town.  The kids loved it and enjoyed reading the map trying to follow along with where we were.

Love this!

Sea World opened it's doors one evening late for annual pass holders.  We showed up around 4:30 and stayed until 7:30 and were treated to a special night-time Shamu show.

The kids were in a pirates and mermaids camp at the local rec center for 4 days at the end of June.  It was my first time leaving Cole for that long in a group setting so was a bit nervous but when I picked them up, they both said they loved it and looked forward to going every morning.  On the last day, they could dress up as a pirate or mermaid.  Daddy got creative with Sydney's 'costume' since we didn't have a mermaid princess cress up costume so she wore her little mermaid bathing suit with a tutu - perfect!  Cole was Jake from the Neverland Pirates but is going through a "no pictures!!" phase :)

Found this sweet cat on a bike ride one day.  The kids stayed and petted her for about 10 minutes

We love getting updates on baby Finn!  Every time Aunt Lindsay sends a new picture, the kids ask to see it over and over and over again.
