Sweet tooth

Sydney has not been a huge fan of rice cereal since we introduced it to her 3 weeks ago.  Whenever we would try to feed her, she would clench her mouth shut and turn her head in the other direction.  My friend, Alicia, mentioned to me the other day that her pediatrician recommended the cereal flavored with fruit for infants who don't like the plain rice cereal so I immediately went out to the store and bought the cereal with bananas in it.  The first two attempts were a success so we're hopeful we're onto something although I'm not too excited that my sweet tooth has been passed down so quickly!

Sydney started sitting up by herself this week!  She'll topple over occasionally but for the most part is pretty stable!

Makapuu Lighthouse

We were going to hit the beach on Sunday afternoon but it was pretty overcast and windy so we ventured out to Makapuu Lighthouse instead!  This was Sydney's first time on the hike (other then when I was pregnant) and she did awesome!  The trail was packed but the views were gorgeous and we even spotted some whales!

Rice cereal

We started Sydney on rice cereal on Monday, January 9th.  I wouldn't say she was crazy about the texture of it or a foreign object going into her mouth but she ate the majority of it (or got it on her face).  Needless to say, nighttime bath time is now mandatory!

5 months!

Sydney turned 5 months last week while we were still in NY.  We had to wait until we got back home to HI to get a monthly picture with her and her cabbage patch doll. 

A comparison to her 4 previous months:

She continues to be such a happy baby!  She had a busy month of travelling, celebrating her first Christmas and meeting new friends and family.  She was such a trooper through it all.

Lisa made a comment to me when we were home saying that it is funny that I keep saying each month that this is my new favorite age. She said that her and Rich did the same thing and it only keeps getting better!  I guess that's a good thing though --I would be concerned if she told me to enjoy 5 months now because from here on out, it all goes downhill :)  

Great Grammy S

Sydney and I traveled out to New York for a few days last week so Sydney could meet Great Grammy S.  While our trip was cut a day short due to a cancelled flight out of SD because of fog, we made the most of our time there.  Gram is still funny as ever and we loved seeing the rest of the NY aunts, uncles and cousins! Sydney even got a taste of snow, which she loved!
