delaMontaigne Christmas morning

We celebrated Sydney's first Christmas with my side of the family on Christmas day while Dave's family was in the air flying to San Diego.  Sydney was very spoiled with love and gifts and I think she'll continue to enjoy this holiday!

Twas the Night Before Christmas...

We arrived in San Diego late Thursday night so we were able to spend Christmas eve with the delaMontaigne's! We baked and decorated Christmas cookies during the day and took a nice long walk in the 70 degree weather (!) before heading out to church at 5.

My mom has always wanted us to dress alike so last year when we were all in Hawaii, she gave us all matching pj's.  This year, the tradition continued...Sydney got her gift a little early since I wanted to throw them in the wash before she went to bed.

After breakfast on Sunday morning, we celebrated Christmas!  Sydney was fascinated with putting the wrapping paper and presents in her mouth instead of playing with anything...but can you blame her??  She's a 4 month old who is teething!

Holidays are SO much more fun and exciting with a little one...I can only imagine it gets better as they get older!

Hawaii Christmas Eve

We decided to celebrate Christmas in Hawaii with our little family today (Sunday) since we leave for San Diego later this week.  On Saturday night we headed down to check out the Honolulu city lights and have Sydney meet Santa in case she wanted to give him any last minute gift ideas. 

The city hall building (Honolulu Hale) was decorated with trees that each of  the different departments within the city created - they were amazing.  It's tough to see in the picture but we are standing in front of the Angry Birds tree. 

Sydney meets Santa!  She wasn't smiling but she wasn't crying either... we'll take it!!

4 months!

Happy 4 months, baby girl!  I know I say this every month but I still can't believe how quickly time goes.  

I can't figure out why this rotated on me.  

Sydney continues to be such a happy baby!  She weighs in at 13lbs. 4 oz. and is 58 cm. in length - both in the 50th % for her age.   

She is still sleeping great, babbling more, responding to Dave and I, able to focus for longer and is putting whatever she can get a hold of in her mouth!  

She's got a big month of travelling and seeing/meeting family ahead of her for Christmas. We are SO excited!

Only in Hawaii...

...would you go to a Christmas parade and see more floats with hula dancers and fire throwers than Christmas trees and elves!

We LOVE the small town feel our community has and on Saturday morning we ventured one block up the street to attend Oahu's largest Christmas parade.  After helping put together the Holiday Bowl parade for a few years in San Diego, I have pretty high expectations when it comes to parades. I will be the first to admit I was thoroughly impressed with the number & quality of the entries, the organization, and the thousands of spectators that came out for this parade.  We're already looking forward to next year's!

And, only in Hawaii would a 3-year old be allowed to sit on his dad's lap and "drive" the truck all along the parade route:

It doesn't take much for Sydney to be entertained...her favorite part of the parade were the lights on top of the police car blocking the intersection.
