Nutcracker

Sydney and I went to the Nutracker at the Civic theatre in downtown San Diego on December 13th.
Before leaving our house

Anxiously awaiting the start

Yay!

At the show

She really enjoyed it.  Some parts were slow and she kept asking when they were going to do ballet but overall, she had fun!  During intermission, we were in line for the bathroom and she was standing on her tippie toes doing her ballet :) So sweet.

Oh what fun!

We have had a great start to December and have enjoyed some fun holiday activities.
Daddy, Sydney and Cole built a backyard swing out of an old boogie board!  Up-cycling at its best.  The kids love it!

Swinging on a chilly morning

Our friend Ms. Pamela gave Sydney a "real princess crown" so Sydney wrote a thank you note to Ms. Pamela and asked to take a picture by her door.

We got our tree the weekend after Thanksgiving.  Dave was busy building a platform for the train this year.  The kids enjoy all of it :)

Checking out their work.

Setting up the train!!

They worked hard this year polishing the tracks before attaching them to the platform.  The kids know that Daddy has to be there to run the train so it is always the first thing they ask him to do when he walks in the door from work!

Another bike ride, another kitty cat.

These two.  love.

We went to the Del for their holiday lights celebration.  We saw the sunset while we were waiting in line to see Santa.  Not too bad....

Sand artist on the beach made snowmen out of sand

And then they had fireworks on the beach!

We got panera and made it a picnic!

Covering his ears from the fireworks

2 days later Santa arrived by ferry

They had face painting

Ornament decorating...

Another Santa picture :)

And snow!!!

Making snowballs with Nani

They had this little hill for the kids to slide down

He loved it

A little snowman

Syd wanted a turn on the hill, too.

Watching the band from Poppa's shoulders

And from Daddy's shoulders

After a quick piece of pizza, we headed to the other end of town to watch the light parade:

Such a fun night!

This guy has gotten so good on the balance bike.  One morning he biked down to the ferry landing and wanted to check out where Santa came from

Party on Uncle Bubba's back!  Hollie participated in a craft fair in Coronado so Brian hung at our house for a few hours while she worked!  The kids loved spending time with him.

Base had a holiday concert and a chance to meet Anna & Elsa from Frozen so we checked it out.  Cole LOVES music so was really interested in the different instruments that were being played.

And Sydney's day was made when she gave Elsa a hug.  *Note:  she has NOT seen the movie Frozen once although she could convince you otherwise *

Normally when Sydney goes to school, she has been riding the balance bike on the way there and I push Cole in the stroller and he gets to ride the balance bike home.  This past week I was brave and let both kids ride to/from school.  It gets a little crazy when we try to cross the busy roads, especially since I need to help Sydney start on her bike because her legs aren't long enough but its good practice for everyone!

Celebrating Joseph's 5th birthday with the cousins!

They yell, "mom, take a picture"

Sydney made a similar chain in school and asked to make one when she got home one afternoon.  When she was done she said, "Mom, you're in a good mood today so I'm making this for you!"

Sydney was reading Cole stories in her room.
