Bump Watch - 21 Weeks

Dave and I went for a little hike yesterday so decided to change up the scenery a bit for the weekly photos:

GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had our 21 week ultrasound on Friday and found out that we're having a little girl.  We're both absolutely thrilled with the news and even more excited that the doc said the baby looks healthy.  Now comes the hard part - waiting 4 1/2 months until we meet her...Guess we'll have to fill the time with LOTS of shopping :)

Compliment???

On Monday a co-worker of mine asked if we had found out the sex of the baby yet.  I told her no but our ultrasound is scheduled for THIS Friday.  She then told me that she knows I'm having a girl and can tell it in my face by the following: 

1.  My face is rounder (aka pudgier)

2.  Boys bring beauty into the face and girls take it out

3.  She said she has noticed I have been breaking out more and have more zits

Wow.  I was just about speechless.  I told her, "Well, we'll see on Friday."  She somewhat redeemed herself when she said that since so much has been taken out of me we'll at least have a beautiful baby.   


I guess I'll take the having a beautiful baby as a compliment.  Not so sure about the rest...

Ball

On Saturday night, Dave and I attended the 216th Birthday celebration for his work.  The ball was held at The Kahala Resort, a beautiful property located right on the ocean in between Waikiki and Hawaii Kai.  For my first ball, this location is going to be hard to top!

Bump Watch - 20 weeks

1/2 way there!  Our ultrasound is on Friday and we can't wait!!!!

(I promise I wear clothes other than workout attire.  We take the weekly photo every Sunday and we usually remember before or after we go for a walk)

Tsunami Watch 2011

We hit the halfway mark yesterday (20 weeks) and I guess Mother Nature wanted to do a little celebrating.  I was exhausted by 8 p.m. and went to bed around 8:30 (I know, I know...) for what I thought would be a solid 10 hours of sleep.

Around 9:30, I heard our front door open and our car leave but was too tired to get out of bed or to find out where Dave was going.  At 11 p.m., I saw all of the lights on in our family room, heard the TV and saw Dave sitting at his computer so knew something was up... (I also slept through two loud tsunami alarm warnings.  Hope this isn't a sign to come when the baby cries at 2 a.m.)  Dave did a great job getting everything prepared while he let me sleep for a few hours.  

When I finally got up, Dave filled me in on the terrible earthquake/tsunami in Japan and told me that Hawaii was bracing for a similar Tsunami to hit at 3 a.m.  He had already gone to the grocery store to stock up on supplies and was well on his way of packing up our important documents to include the latest SI swimsuit magazine:

We now have more Chef Boyardee than you could possibly want.  I think next week is going to be FFY (Fend For Yourself) dinners so we can get rid of these canned goods!  

Amazing that we have a house full of "stuff" but we only filled 2 backpacks with items we MUST bring.  

We stayed up for the next 4 hours watching the news and coming up with a game plan if we were to evacuate.  The fire and police drove by the street below us letting them know to evacuate but thankfully our house sits high enough above sea level that we weren't forced to leave.

Thankfully, there wasn't much damage done to the island and we called it a night around 4 a.m.  Our alarms came way too early this morning and we're both trying to stay awake during work.  We know we are very fortunate and this could have been a lot worse!

Bump Watch - 19 weeks

Almost 1/2 way there...

Congratulations Ma'am

Dave and I went down to Waikiki last weekend and as we were walking back to the car, a Japanese man bowed towards us and said, "Congratulations Ma'am".  Dave and I both looked at each other confused and then Dave looked behind us to see who he was talking to... except no one was behind us!!  We looked at each other realizing he was talking to me and we were both speechless.  I guess I ate too much at the Duke's breakfast buffet and I was showing more than I thought.  As Dave likes to say, I guess this little one is officially "sticking".
