August fun

The rest of August in pictures

The zoo was open until 9 p.m. during the summer with special shows.  We hit up the afternoons a few times.  The kids loved the trampoline show!

He LOVES the zoo/safari park and would talk about animals all day long if he could.  The other day he said, "mom, I have a secret."  I said, "What's your secret, Cole?"  He said, "Let's go to the safari park or the zoo today!"  And then had a huge smile on his face :)

Lots of bike riding this month!

Cheese!

Dancing!

I found a moms group in Coronado which is pretty active and has 1-2 playdates a week.  It's been a great way to get to know other moms/kids!  One day we went on a tour of the police station

The kids were pretty restless in this room - this is where they answer the inbound 9-1-1 calls

It was hot.  and crowded!

But then we got to visit the holding cell which the kids loved.  Hope I never see this little boy in this room again!

Or this girl!

Thanks Officer Dan for a fun tour!

Sydney asked for 3 braids along with a ribbon and this hello kitty clip one morning.

Beach morning.

Sydney waiting for the doctor at her 4 year old check up

I walked into the bathroom to find this.  Cole emptied the entire toilet paper roll into the toilet.  Ugh!

We brought dinner to my friend Marissa who recently had a little baby.  Cole asked to hold her.

So sweet!

Sydney wanted a turn, too.

Coles big boy bed

At the beginning on August (August 1st to be exact), Cole finally figured out how to climb out of his crib.  I was (and still am) SO sad.  I was bragging to a friend earlier that week how he is 2 1/2 and still in a crib and I was planning on keeping him in a crib until he figured out how to climb out of it.  Well, I jinxed myself.

That night he climbed out of his bed and walked into our room and said "hi mom!".  I about died when I realized how he got there.  Since it was pretty late, I tried carrying him back to his room and putting him back in his bed but sure enough, he climbed right out again.  That night, we slept in the guest room.  The next day, Daddy, Sydney and Cole worked together to take apart his crib.

Big boy Bed!

Pretending to be asleep :)

Naptime and bedtime has been a challenge the past month with his new found freedom.  We were on such a roll with sleeping through the night and going down easy that it's frustrating we're back at square 1 (or so it feels so).  Like everything, this phase too shall pass and then we'll have another challenge :)

LegoLand

Before we knew the Ducote's were moving out to San Diego, Lisa and I talked about taking the kiddos to Legoland one of the days they were here.  She asked if we wanted to go on Sydney's birthday and we went for it.  It ended up working out perfectly and was a nice break in the week from the beach/pool.

Entering the park

First Lego statue we came across

Cole walked by this girl and then asked me to take a picture of him with her!  Starting early!

Nani came too!  And helped Cole and Joseph

These two!  Love them.

Only 12 more years before she gets behind the wheel!

I wish I took a family pic from the day but by the time we left the park, we were all tired and hot!  We had a great day celebrating our 4 year old at Legoland.

Sydney riding her 2 wheel bike

We gave Sydney her 2 wheel bike the day before her 4th birthday since we would be gone for most of the day on her actual birthday.  Daddy put together the bike in advance so they could try ridining it as soon as she opened it.

She got the hang of it pretty quickly.  They went out in the morning and when she got back she said she didn't really like it and wanted to ride her balance bike instead.  After a little rest, they went back out and she hasn't stopped yet.  So amazing to see her take off!
