Father's Day

Dave and I are so blessed to have amazing fathers in our lives.  They are hard workers and role models who always put family first!  To see them now as grandpa's is just about the best thing!  I think Sydney has a few men already wrapped around her finger :)

I knew what I was getting into marrying Dave but had NO idea about the kind of dad he would be.  He would always warn me that he had never really been around babies and didn't know the first thing about what to do.

To say that he has blown me away the past  10 months would be an understatement.  He changed every single diaper while we were in the hospital and for the 2 weeks he was home after Sydney was born...well, except for the poopie ones he talked Nani into changing while she was here :).

He works hard all day to provide for our family and then comes home with endless energy to play with Sydney until bedtime.  He has taken on the role of giving her bath every night followed by story time and never complains that he needs 'Dave time'.

Sydney is one lucky girl to call him Dad!  Happy 1st fathers day, Dave!

10 months!

10 months.
When did she get so old???

She wants to walk everywhere now!!

Daddy and Sydney exploring in our backyard

Twins in their hats!

She still loves reading which makes us happy!  It's very typical for her to pull every.single.book. off of her shelf and then sit down and start to read!

She is SO curious and needs to know what is going around her at all times.

And she makes us laugh :)

Her new favorite food is cheese.  She would eat cheese and cheerios all day if we let her.

Still just has her bottom 2 teeth.  I'm convinced more are coming soon.

She is into EVERYTHING!!!!  She can now walk around the entire couch and coffee table by herself.  Needless to say, our coffee table is rather empty these days :)

Happy 10 months, baby girl.  Please stop growing up so fast :)

Pineapple & Pinterest

Remember the pineapple we planted about 18 months ago?!!??

Well, we FINALLY got to pick it and enjoy the fruits of our labor.  Problem is, it was bad by the time we ate it!  Ugh... all of that for nothing.  BUT, do not worry... the plant is growing 2 more baby pineapples so there will still be plenty more pineapple talk on this blog :)

And...

Because facebook doesn't waste enough of my time, I have a new addiction... pinterest.   Unlike facebook, I actually get ideas that I put to use from this site.  I have made a couple of new recipes, a hair clip holder for Sydney as well as these coasters:

It was a fun little project and now I have an excuse to keep checking out the site -- so I can find my next project :)

Mariner's Ridge

After the Memorial Day Ceremony, we headed over to a town called Hawaii Kai and found a hike neither of us had done yet - Mariner's Ridge!

Dave and Syd leading the way

She woke up for a quick pic

The ridge kept going but we were done!

This is the residential neighborhood where it started - reminded me of the east coast houses.

After our hike, we hit up Kona Brew for lunch and beverages :)

Home of the free...

...because of the brave!!

We woke up early on Monday morning and headed over to PunchBowl National Cemetery for the annual Mayor's Memorial Day ceremony.   It was a wonderful tribute to the men and women who have given their lives for our freedom.

And... she was ready for her nap!!!

We are SO lucky to have Dave/Daddy at home with us every night.  Many families/friends are not so fortunate if their spouse is deployed, working in another country, out to sea, or if they paid the ultimate sacrifice.  There are some challenges of being in a military family but Monday reminded me how proud I am of Dave and every other man/woman in uniform (past or present).
