Bump Watch - 40 weeks

Well, her due date has now come and gone and we continue to wait!!  We have an induction scheduled for next Monday, August 8th (Lisa's birthday!!!) if she doesn't come this week. Of course we'd both prefer she comes on her own schedule but we also need to make sure she stays healthy.  The doctors here have told us they don't like anyone carrying until 42 weeks because nothing good comes after that point and it only puts the mom/baby in danger.

Showered with Love

For living in Hawaii for only a year now, I'm constantly amazed at how much people care about our growing family.

On Sunday, the Navy Supply Corps spouses threw a baby shower for me at Dave's CO's (Commanding Officer) house and yesterday, work threw me a surprise baby shower... just what I love - surprises AND showers :)

Now, if someone would just tell Baby Dora that she is loved by so many and can make her appearance asap, that would be much appreciated!  We had our 38 week doc apt. on Wednesday and it still looks like she is pretty comfy hanging out in my belly.  She is officially full term and can come anytime - 42 weeks.  We're both hoping its sooner than later but I guess that decision is out of our control.  For the time being, we'll enjoy our last few days(weeks) of just the two of us!

Bump Watch - 37 weeks

We went to the doctors on Friday and it looks like Baby Dora is pretty comfy in my belly.  Her heartbeat sounds strong and I'm still feeling good so I can't complain.  We now head back to the doc's every week from here until she's born... playing the waiting game.

It's a boy??!!??

Yesterday after work I went for a walk around our neighborhood.  Since becoming pregnant, Dave and I tend to go walking around the same time/same route most days so tend to see our 'regulars' out exercising.  Dave decided to sit yesterdays walk out but I decided to go and risk getting rained on.  While I was about 3/4 of the way through, I noticed a familiar woman walking towards me.  You can tell she commutes to work on the bus and this is her walk home.  We made eye contact and she smiled really big and then stopped and started fumbling through her bag she was carrying.  I continued walking towards her, she looked up at me once more, found what she was looking for, and then had the BIGGEST smile on her face.  As we passed, I smiled and said hello and she just held out her hand and tried to give me something.  I thought it was an advertisement for something so politely declined.  She kept her arm out extended with the piece of paper in it and said: "CONGRATULATIONS!!!  IT'S A BOY!!!".  I thanked her and took the piece of paper from her hand.  This is what I found:
I didn't have the heart to tell her we are having a girl...
Hilarious!!!  I couldn't stop laughing for the rest of my walk.  Definitely random.
