On January 1st we all headed up to my parents house for a New Years Celebration. Since we were in bed by 9 p.m., we were all up bright and early:
The kids wanted to swim... so we let them swim. You can't do this everywhere in January and we are SO thankful we could do it this year.
Trying out the pool (unheated!!). It was chilly but there were some brave kiddos taking a polar bear plunge.
Julia saw the big kids swimming and wanted to join in the acton
Poppa wanted in, too!
While the kids were swimming, the boys were cooking away. Rich attempted to fry a turkey (again) to redeem himself from Thanksgiving. Thankfully, this one turned out MUCH better!
The kids being creative (or making messes) with playdoh.
We caught them licking the window to try and get the playdoh to stick. Gross!
After dinner Nani and Poppa introduced the kids to the peppermint pig. A tradition usually done on Christmas Day that involves hitting a piece of peppermint shaped in a pig with a hammer and breaking off a piece and eating it. The kids loved it!!

Choosing their piece
Sydney in action hitting the pig
Ella eating her piece
After dinner Cole and Joseph were playing in Nani & Poppa's room. Cole kept asking Poppa to shave off his "whiskers" so Poppa let the boys help him! But first, Poppa put shaving cream on their faces!
Happy New Year!
