Coronado Staycation

There are new(er) beach cottages on Coronado that we called about awhile ago and they were all booked up (you can only reserve 3 months ahead of time).  I decided to call back the week prior to Thanksgiving to see if any had opened up since Dave was off all week and sure enough, there was one that had a few nights available.  At first we booked for two nights but after thinking about it, changed it to one.  We haven't had the best luck with sleepers in places other than our own house so decided to just try it for one night in case it was awful...and, after our first night, we are SO glad we only stayed for 1!

We arrived around noon on Monday to an absolutely beautiful day!  About 80 degrees (in November) and not a cloud in the sky.

Playing at the playground while Daddy checks in

They played on the beach for soooooo long in the morning.  It was a bit chilly in the morning but then heated up quickly.

So much beach!

View of the our cottage from the beach.  There are two cottages per building.

It got chilly once the sun was setting but nothing that a sweater and hat couldn't take care of.  The kids played SO well in the sand all afternoon/evening.

View from our front door of the cottage.  Not bad :)

The cottage had 2 bedrooms.  This bedroom had 2 twin size beds so we decided to push the beds against the wall and put the mattresses on the floor to make one giant bed for the kids.  Cole went to bed first followed by Sydney.  Both kiddos were asleep by 7 p.m. so Dave and I thought we were in the clear and were talking about staying another night :)  Cole woke up in the middle of the night and realized he wasn't in a crib and could get anywhere!  After a few rolls over Sydney, drinking her water and walking all over the bed, we realized it was going to be a long night!!

Sydney and Cole's friend Luke is always carrying around his green froggie.  Sydney found her green frog that Ms. Pamela gave her so she is now sleeping with it, just like Luke does (she wanted to take it everywhere we go but I said no to that...)  Of course Froggie had to come with us to Coronado as well...and Sydney asked to have her picture taken with him in the morning.  This girl!

I went for a run in the morning and this was the view of downtown.  So pretty!

We will be back to the cottages... may wait another year or so until Cole is a bit older so we are more rested in the morning but the location can't be beat!

No more night diaper par-tay!

Sydney has been potty trained during the day for almost a year but last Saturday, we got to celebrate her waking up in the morning for 5 days in a ROW with a dry diaper!  Since then, she has done it every single night!
Every morning that she woke up with a dry diaper, we put a star on the calendar.  We promised her a special treat when she had 5 stars in a row.  When she woke up Saturday morning with a dry diaper, we headed to get frozen yogurt!!!

Someone is excited!

Yummy!

This little one got to enjoy as well and started crying when his bowl was empty. Ha.  Guess they get their sweet tooth from their momma.

So proud of you, Syd Syd!

Auntie Lindsay visits San Diego

Auntie Lindsay came out from New York for almost a week and we were so grateful to be able to spend some time with her.  One of her good friends got married in Arizona but she decided to fly into San Diego a few days before the wedding and then drive out/back to Arizona for the wedding.

The weather was beautoful while she was here!!  I texted her the day before she left telling her to pack shorts because it was hot (85!) and she replied they have been packed away for a few months!

Nani worked the first full day Lindsay was here so we picked her up from Nani's in the morning and took her to Del Mar beach so the kids could play on the playground and then we could hit the beach.  Everyone was happy!

They could have done this for hours...jumping off sand cliffs.

Thursday night the 'big' girls (Nani, me, Lindsay & Hollie) went out for pedicures and dinner which was really fun!

On Friday night, everyone came over to our house to play and for pizza.  Lindsay and Hollie kept the kids entertained for quite some time in the playroom!

Lindsay got back from Arizona late Sunday night and her flight left early Tuesday morning so Monday night we went over to Nani's and Uncle Brian met us there for one last dinner.

We're glad you came out, Auntie Lindsay.  Looking forward to seeing you back in SD in January!

Halloween

Halloween was SO much fun this year now that the kids are a bit older!

Sydney has been wearing her costume since we got it in August but was just SO excited to put it on for Halloween!

We didn't really know what Cole was going to be since he is in a tough age - most of the older kids costumes are too big and the infant costumes are too little/for babies.  After my mom got back from Texas, she kept talking about Jake (Jake and the Neverland Pirates) since Joseph is a bit obsessed with them.  Well, after Sydney hear that, she decided that Cole was going to be Jake, too!  I saw a 2T Jake costume at Target so figured it was meant to be!

We headed over to the shopping center right next to our house for their trick-or-treating from 3-5.  Nani had just gotten off of school so met us there (SO thankful she was there to help walk with Cole!).

Trick-or-treating at the stores

Cole figuring out what trick or treating is all about

Once he realized he got candy, he was hooked :)  He kept saying "More!"

We found Cinderella!

And then met up with some friends!!

After the shopping center trick or treating, we came home, had pizza with Daddy and headed out on our street!

Daddy even got into the Halloween spirit with his team from work this year.  Gru and the Minions - they won second place in their work costume contest!!

Happy Halloween!
