Rest of July

Here is a little of what we were up to the rest of July:
Boogie boards rides

Zoo trips

Safari Park with Nani and her friend Lynne

Riding the carousel

We took the ferry over to check out Comic-con.  Kids first ferry ride (Sydney wanted to wear her My Little Pony dress.  Since we knew everyone was going to be in costumes, we went with it)

Our friends from PQ (Rancho Penasquitos - where our house is) were beach camping in Coronado so we met up with them and another family one afternoon/evening.  After dinner the kiddos did smores.

Worlds biggest marshmallows

The sky was amazing!

Helpers in the kitchen

Hanging with Bubba and Hollie at Nani & Poppa's house

Officially potty trained!!!  Yay!  He just uses diapers at night now.

Her latest pet - a roly poly (before Cole "broke" it)

And then she was SO sad.  But, we walked over to the park and she found 2 new ones so she was ok.

Dave's cousin Gabe was out in Santa Monica (from PA) for a volleyball tournament so we drove up to see him for the day

We found a little playground but it was HOT out so everything was hot

So we spent most of our time in the water

This guy was washed up

Walking to find something to eat.  The kids LOVED Gabe!

After dinner carousel ride and before the 2+hour car ride home (of course neither of them napped this day and Cole didnt even sleep on the car ride home!)

Swimming lessons

We signed Sydney up for swimming lessons at the rec center for the last 2 weeks in July.  She didn't exactly love the swimming lessons but she is getting better and even put her face in the water - which is HUGE!!  We are proud of her for going everyday and doing her best!
Getting ready for the first day of lessons with her new goggles.

The rec center pool was gorgeous - and you couldn't beat the view!

Having fun before lessons

Can you spot her.  Her teacher was Mr. Sam (which she sometimes called Uncle Sam since her lessons began right after the 4th of July when there was lots of talk about Uncle Sam. ha!).

The view!

All done and nice and warm with Daddy!  We rode our bikes everyday to the lessons and daddy met us there after work (it was right next to his base) and then we all rode home together.  It worked out great!

* about a week after swimming lessons ended, Sydney told me one day, "Mommy, please don't spend anymore of your money on swimming lessons for me.  I don't want to go anymore"  (There were a few days she didn't want to go so we were trying to explain what commitment is and that we had to pay money for these lessons so it's important to continue going until the end)

4th of July

Coronado is my favorite place in the world to celebrate the 4th of July so was SO excited that we were moved into our house by the 4th and could just wake up and WALK to the parade/festivities.
Staking out your parade route spot is an adventure.  The "rules" state you can't put anything down until 5 a.m. (Parade starts at 10).  Rumor has it people started at 4:30 a.m this year.  I did a run in the morning so told Dave I wold put out some blankets/chairs on my way to the start of the run.  I was 3 rows back at 6:30 a.m.
Nani spent the night on the 3rd and went with Dave and the kiddos down to the park to watch me finish my run.  They ran into Poppa and our family friends, the Buckleys, on our walk back to the house.

My cheerleaders :)

We came back to our house for breakfast and then headed to the parade
Poppa and Cole walking to the parade

Nani and Lynne with Cole and Sydney

They both LOVED the parade and talk about it every time we get off the bridge and drive across the parade route

Surfing with Poppa after the parade

After naps, we headed to the playground

And enjoyed cookies from Ms. Pamela and Mr. Todd

And then enjoyed fireworks... from our couch... at 7:30 p.m. :)  We were all tired and the thought of walking down to the bay at 9 to watch fireworks didn't sound so appealing.  The kids didn't know differently and loved it!!!

Happy 4th of July!

Summa time

I just found some more pics from June/July on my phone and wanted to get them on the blog... for when I eventually get around to making books :)

Sydney at Qualcomm Stadium.  She was blowing Poppa a kiss telling him she was at his stadium :)

Kiddos love visiting Mr. Marc.  She had him sharpening her pencil :)

Syd and mommy on a fro-yo date ;)

Walking through the roses in Coronado by the ferry landing

Beach day!!!
